My Story
At Rene's Recipes, I am passionate about providing homemade dishes that cater to the needs of busy individuals, families, and anyone looking for convenient, tasty food options.
Renè Carstens is a passionate food entrepreneur with decades of experience in recipe development, quality control, and mass food production. Born and raised in Randburg, Gauteng, she matriculated from Randburg High School in 1985 before pursuing a four-year degree in Home Economics at the University of Stellenbosch. She went on to complete an honours degree in 1991, specializing in Therapeutic Nutrition and Mass Food Production.
Her career began in 1992 as a Recipe Developer and Quality Controller at Wonderland Foods, a company producing recipe dishes for Woolworths. In 1993, she moved back to Gauteng, where she worked as a Home Economist for Clover Dairies until 1998.
After getting married, Renè relocated to Cape Town, where she continued to expand her culinary career. She co-owned Mint Deli & Restaurant in Clara Anna Fontein Estate and launched a successful frozen meal business, which continues to thrive today. Renè’s dedication to high-quality, nutritious meals has made her a respected figure in the food industry.
